STUDIO ASSOCIATE

ABOUT PARADE

PARADE is an art advisory firm partnering with developers, owners, architects, and design teams to create distinctive art programs for the built environment.

Based in the Pacific Northwest and working across the United States, we lead art programs from initial strategy through final installation. Our role sits at the intersection of art, design, and execution: understanding the vision for a project, identifying the right creative opportunities, bringing exceptional artists to the table, and managing the many decisions and details required to deliver the work successfully.

Our firm is small by design. We pair senior-level judgment with hands-on work, and you are reading this because we are seeking to add one or two new team members to help us meet growing project needs.

We are open to hiring someone based in Seattle or in other parts of the United States. Must be willing to travel to our headquarters twice per year as well as regular project-based travel.

POSITION

The Studio Associate supports creative and production activities across PARADE’s art programs, from early research through installation.

The role offers broad exposure to our work and room to grow in the areas of strongest aptitude and interest. You will assist in the implementation of art projects and act as a point of contact for our clients, artists, and fulfillment partners. The role works closely with Project Managers, Art Consultants, Curators, and external partners like artists, framers, fabricators, and installers to help ensure the smooth execution of projects. You will gain hands-on experience managing aspects of the project lifecycle, including budgets, orders, and documentation, while learning the intricacies of the art production and installation process.

The approximate allocation is 40% art consulting and creative support, 40% project and production coordination, and 20% artist resources, marketing, admin and studio support. The mix varies by project. No two days will be the same.

ART CONSULTING AND CREATIVE SUPPORT  40%

  • Project review and scope: Review plans, renderings, FF&E packages, and design narratives; prepare preliminary scope decks and help define artwork locations, dimensions, and priorities.

  • Research: Explore each project’s place and context; identify artists and works suited to its goals and budget.

  • Presentations: Build client art decks and simple mockups showing concepts, selections, scale, and placement.

  • Artist outreach: Gather pricing, availability, lead times, and imagery; prepare preliminary selections for team review.

  • Team participation: Join internal reviews, kickoffs, and client meetings as appropriate; take and distribute notes, organize research and project information for future use.

PROJECT COORDINATION AND PRODUCTION  40%

  • Specifications and orders: Help translate approved art programs into specifications, quotes, purchase orders, and production documents.

  • Production tracking: Place and track assigned orders, checking files, quantities, dimensions, finishes, and shipping details.

  • Budgets and schedules: Help track costs, milestones, shipments, and deliveries; flag risks and follow up promptly.

  • Partner coordination: Communicate with artists, framers, printers, fabricators, installers, and other partners.

  • Installation: Gather site information and coordinate access, deliveries, insurance, and schedules; support local installations and occasional travel to be the point of contact on site at project installations.

  • Closeout: Prepare installation packages, artwork signage, artist information, and closeout materials; help resolve production issues.

  • Systems: Keep project and accounting information accurate.

RESOURCES, ADMIN, MARKETING AND STUDIO SUPPORT  20%

  • Artist resources: Support artist research, outreach, onboarding, PARADE PRINTS, and licensing initiatives.

  • Records and samples: Maintain artist images, bios, pricing, availability, project history, and physical samples.

  • Marketing: Organize project photography and information for portfolio, website, social media, and other initiatives such as award submissions.

  • Studio support: Help organize shipments, meetings, events, and studio resources; improve shared tools and processes.

  • Team & Executive Support: Assist with company meetings, social gatherings and provide administrative support as needed. Assist with various errands and tasks as needed in support of team and Founding Principal.

  • Organized and accountable: You manage details, communicate clearly, and flag problems early.

  • Visually perceptive: You notice composition, color, material, scale, and presentation.

  • Adaptable and hands-on: You are comfortable moving between research, presentations, production, and on-site work.

  • Motivated to grow: You welcome feedback and increasing responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage several priorities independently and collaboratively.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Experience with Photoshop, Acrobat, Trello, Xero, Squarespace, or similar tools is helpful but not required.

  • Experience reading architectural plans and elevations is helpful but not required.

  • Ability to occasionally travel and work on site for installations.

  • We welcome candidates with unconventional backgrounds.

HOW WE WORK

Our approach is defined by four values. PARADE uses these values as a framework for how we make decisions and evaluate individual and team success.

  • CARE  Understand the goals and constraints of the project and treat clients, artists, partners, and one another with fairness and respect.

  • CURIOSITY  Ask the questions that lead beyond the obvious solution. Look closely at place, architecture, audience, and context, and keep learning.

  • TASTE  Exercise judgment. Develop a point of view, understand why something works or doesn’t, and maintain a high bar for what ultimately makes it into a project.

  • FOLLOW-THROUGH  Make it real. Communicate clearly, manage the details, solve problems, and carry the same level of attention from creative ideation through to final delivery.
